Introducing Mannish Da Jula who hip hops all over the place from Alaska, to LA, to Canada? Well he can’t come to Canada at the moment, but he can still gain fans over the Internet. A Hardcore Rapper, who can also create commercial records, listens to a variety of genres: R&B, Soul, Rock, and even House music. Hearing Mannish Da Jula- “About My Business” the music video on Youtube, and pressing play more than twice- has you thinking: “he’s good”. Da Jula is someone who has been through a lot it shows through the conviction in his voice when he spits not to mention confident presentation.  Making nothing but progress over the years is obvious on his Youtube channel: www.youtube.com/committee907. Accomplishing it all by building relationships, increasing market efforts, and using Twitter, all which increases his viewers! His music is on iTunes, and his website has older mixtapes for free download plus you can listen to his single: “Lil’ Mama”. Your bio says you have been moving back and forth from the United States to Alaska, where are you at now?

Anchorage Alaska- I’m always going back, and forth.

What’s the underground scene like there (nightlife, studios, producers)?

It’s growing right now everybody real hungry nothing real big though! It’s like Canada. I don’t how record sales are down there maybe y’all selling thousands of copies I don’t know; ‘cause I know you guys have like a million rappers.

What do you think about Toronto’s music scene, or are you familiar with Toronto’s music scene at all?

Not really I don’t know any Canadian rappers, but I see a lot of guys on WorldStarhiphop.com one in particular is rapper Belly!?

Is “Playboi Muzik” a label, brand, or slogan?

It’s a label, brand, and slogan. Ya, its everything- it’s a whole movement the whole player shit is coming back to life. Playboi Muzik is for cool people; if you’re cool you’ll like the music! Everybody has a little player in them; but also life is a game and we are all players trying to get knowledge and maintain so one day we can teach the youth. It’s about making good music that people can relate to.

You seem to have been making an upward progression regarding your music over the years, what do you credit to that other than your talent? (Videos, performances, collaborations, EST.)

I had to get support; I started meeting people the same as me (status) or higher to make connections. I met a bunch of guys out in New York, and L.A. in LA I met a producer guy, and built a business relationship with him- you have to build relationships! Buying beats is better than leasing beats… They say you have to know somebody to get somewhere. 

In LA everybody says their a Producer, DJ, Rapper…but when I contacted them to put something together, “like lets get in the studio or mix and master”, but they fakin’, they’re not doing anything. It’s better to ‘know someone, but if I want to get something done I do it myself- with the help of my connections I know all kinds of people I gotta credit them. 

I got some nice production- real nice production. The right producers get your music out. When I talk to producers we talk about how we gonna get the music out, can I get it mixed and mastered, I’ll even buy 3, 4, or 5 beats- and they think this guys serious! Also get: a portfolio, magazine placements, features, music on iTunes- you have to get a catalog together. 

Can you tell us about any new projects that you have in the works now or in the future?

I got the EP or maybe a mixtape (I’m not sure yet) “All or Nothing”. Its going to have all the work I’ve been working on for the past couple years; I started putting some of it up on Youtube. I’m not going to put out an album until I get more fans. Before I release an album I want to make sure it’s my best work with good producers; all the songs will have hooks I them- 16 bars than a hook. I don’t want my EP to be like a mixtape; no freestyles, leased beats, no dark, and creepy stuff- it will have some commercial tracks on it.

How did you persuade people to make the transformation from getting your music free to buying it from iTunes, as we all know that is a challenge for most up n coming artists to do?

We are still working on that because it's not easy to sell your music on itunes without a gimmick, so we're basically building a brand of ourselves which is Playboi Muzik.   

How well did the “Mannish Dat Jula Presents, Money is The Object” mixtape downloads do compared to the views of uploaded Youtube tracks off the same mixtape?

That mixtape was free download stuff. I don’t know how many downloads either- wasn’t really many it was on Z Share.  My second mixtape came out after that called “Da Pure” it had more downloads than "Money is the object" and its was promoted by DJ Ames on different sites and blogs too.

Tells us about why you think which networking site is the “new” Myspace: Facebook or Twitter?

I don’t know, I don’t be on Facebook, but I do be on Twitter! I don’t know what’s up with Facebook. I don’t really follow the trends; people on there are just fans rappers following rappers. A friend told me I should get on Facebook to promote my music… Myspace was good now its just machines! I was just using my Myspace, but a friend said I have to get a website, because: “you never know when Myspace will close down”.  I got a website, just got it started, and I’m having more fun wit the website. I think if you are a rapper you have to have a website. If you don’t, I don’t think your taking it serious. Reverbnation is trying to be like Myspace; I don’t know there are a lot of rappers on there- there’s lots of rappers all over the world!
